Sensor, Censor and [deleted]

I am so absolutely SICK of censorship.  I am happy that we have it, because it gives the RR’s something to do.  I hate that we have it, since it gives the RR’s something to do.

I recently had some of those “de-motivational posters” censored on a picture-hosting site.  Motivational posters are the funny kind of picture that you see hanging in staunchy manager’s offices which have magnificent images of things with some incredibly provactive saying with an eye-catching, usually prophetic title.  De-motivational posters (DMP’s) are like that, with pictures of just about anything, with everything from the lewdest descriptions, the most illegal activities, the most depraved considerations up to the most incredibly well-played puns, subtle jokes and ridiculously funny parodies.

A number of these were linked to on another members-only site which I visit.  My storage online (the photo-hosting site) is Private.  The area in which my links were made…Private.  This, however, did not keep a number of these DMP’s from being marked as ‘violations’ of the site guidelines.

This means, logically, since the filenames have nothing to do with the pictures, and the images are marked by the originator where appropriate, only by direct complaint could there be any question about the “appropriateness” of any of the DMP’s.  Obviously, one (or more) of my peers seems to think that they know better, morally, what is allowed and what is not allowed.  That is, what is allowed in my PRIVATE album, and is linked to on my PRIVATE membership site.  The only step left is for this same person to connect to my laptop and delete those things which that person feels are not in my best interest.

So, to all the RR’s out there…thanks.  Thanks for proving that morality in itself is immoral and self-serving.  Let he who knows not of the stone cast first.
