That’s 4 games for roughing, 4 for overreacting.

I have avoided saying anything about this story, but it just keeps coming back.  “Say it, say it”, I can hear.

Video of hockey brawl shows kids throwing punches

So, I watched the video (like a sucker) and I don’t get it.  Yes, eight-year-old Minor Hockey players did “fight”, and if the bleeding-hearts can call glancing blows off the top of someone’s shoulderpads and helmet “throwing punches”, they threw punches.  It looked to me though exactly like the coaches (who I do NOT side with, they screwed up) said, “pushing and shoving” for “30 seconds”.

Got the police involved?  C’mon.  Two idiots, who happen to be coaches, whose teams happen to be playing at the time, start fighting.  What, really, does that have to do with the eight-year-olds.  I have seen worse “brawls” on the bench, between eight-year-olds on the same team.

I guess that either someone wants to send a message to the kids that all that they were taught by their coach was wrong…or someone wants to be sure that no coaches are available, so this horrible, horrible sport called hockey can be stopped, finally.

I sort of feel that the whole thing, except, as I said, the two idiots spitting and wrestling, is just completely too PC (so, FU) and is fraught with overreaction and stained with stupidity.

First off, if you don’t like kids to be in rough sports, why are they in hockey?

If you plan to argue what I just said, please, first, before even hitting that comment button, go find out what the penalty in your province (or state) for roughing or fighting is in Minor Hockey.

*waits while you triumphantly search the net with proud dilligence and smug grin*

NOW, before you post a link…answer this question:

WHY is there a penalty for roughing in Minor Hockey?

Aside from the fact that the fight was more of a minor scuffle, what do parents expect? The kids see the highlights of hockey fights on TV all the time… it breeds imitation.
