For Those About to Shock, We Resolute You.

Although I have to agree that it IS actually a good thing that Law Enforcement Officers will be required to file paperwork on a drawn taser as much as a drawn conventional firearm, I still firmly disagree with everything David Winninger says.

I may, from time to time, make mistakes:  It may be I am saying or typing the right thing rather than the correct (and I don’t mean PC) thing, however, Winninger cannot get off of this Tasers Kill People soapbox.  I don’t “blame” the RCMP for using a taser when someone is not doing what they are told to do.  There is this ridiculous tap-dance around the actual issues.

1.  Law Enforcement Officers are, well, LAW ENFORCEMENT Officers.  If you are not complying with what they say, regardless of your mother not being at the airport, the drugs you took, the crime you committed, OR, YES, even the fact that you MIGHT be innocent…you are resisting, which is a felony.

2.  Any whining simpleton that makes the statement that “what if the [RCMP] abuse that power?”  Are you serious?  As I wrote before, Law Enforcement Officers are to be and should be held to a higher standard.  If they don’t cut it, tell their unions to go to hell and fire their asses.

3.  If you don’t want to run the risk of being killed by a Law Enforcement Officer, DON’T COMMIT CRIMES.

To me, Winninger is complaining about getting sunburned, never actually gets sunburned himself, but is convinced that the only way to save the entire population is to destroy the sun.

Excellent points. It’s en vogue to blame everything on everyone but the one truly responsible.

I recall a recent a local news story on a man who led police on a high speed chase on the interstate, recklessly driving into oncoming traffic, and after getting off the interstate, damaged various buildings, including a gas station, with his vehicle.

When he finally got his (stolen) car stuck in foliage, he got out and started running. After coming to the realization that he would not be getting away, he dived, arms outstretched, into some more bushes.

The police quickly jumped on top of him, holding him down. One officer punched him a couple times. “Police brutality,” they said.

    What an idiot.

    “God”,

    I assume you mean Winninger?

I don’t know about “idiot”, but his cure has nothing to do with the disease.

Today, he said that although he was not able to get a moratorium on tasers, “taxpayers pay for [tasers] and we will just have to [monitor that]“.

I say, yes, taxpayers should be absolutely made aware of everything that tax money pays for, including settling lawsuits in closed-door council sessions, raises, expenditures, nepotism and sexual harassment claims.

    Unions.

I wonder about them some times. Power to the people, I get that since it helps to keep abuse of power from being rampant in the many industries and sectors of government but I also wonder about using that same power to stick it to the man.

In the case of rookie officers of the law, I wonder if the Union is the best thing since it is guaranteed work security on day one without any of the necessary (in my opinion) grace period of getting to know the job.

I like the idea of only senior officers having the ability to carry a taser. They will have earned it. I honestly don’t know where to stand on this issue anymore except to say that I blogged with GOD!

    LOL

Our local law enforcement have recently gotten tasers that have video cams attached to them that turn on automatically when a taser is pulled out for use. This protects both the officer and the possible tasee (person being tasored). No false accusations can be made when it is all on tape (or actually disk). :-)

  6. NIAC Says:

Hmm…I wonder how good the video would be?

I can see a lot of accidents recorded…LOL

    Thanks for posting, Jules.

You make it sound like I can stop committing crimes…I can’t! Sometimes I just blackout while choking a bitch, and then beat up some cops. For some reason, I cannot fathom, these same cops want to tase-my-ass afterward. It isn’t my fault I’m just a victim of “the man’s” injustice to rich privileged white people. I have a Medic-alert bracelet that SAYS “This dude might choke-a-bitch…its cool dog”, but do the cops bother to read that while I’m pounding their face in, no!

  8. NIAC Says:

LOL! Linc, that was probably the funniest comment anyone has ever left!

Where do you get the bracelets…there are still shopping days left before Christmas!

Here is the article about the tasers with video cameras build in. There is a picture of one also if you were curious what it looked like.
